Henderson KJ Streamline (1930). Made in Detroit MI.
The Henderson Motorcycle Company built motorcycles from 1912 through 1931. Henderson motorcycles built fast bikes which made them a favourite amongst police departments.
Streamline design was used sparingly on motorcycles during the late '20's and early 30's. The Henderson KJ Streamliner was designed and built by Orley Ray Courtney, a metal smith from Indiana. Courtney built the bike during his spare time. The bike was made from steel making it heavy and impractical for production. The Henderson KJ Streamline was a prototype. Only one of these bike was ever produced.
The Henderson Motorcycle Company went out of business in 1931 during the Great Depression.
The Henderson KJ Streamliner had a 1400cc, air-cooled, in-line, 4 cylinder motor capable of 40HP at 1400 RPM. Top speed is estimated at 100 MPH.
