1912 Alco Touring Car.
Made in Schenectady New York.
The American Locomotive Company (ALCO) was founded in 1901 after a merger of seven locomotive companies. They originally built steam powered cars and train locomotives and quickly became the second largest producer of steam powered automobiles in the US. By 1905, they began producing gasoline powered vehicles. The cars came with either a 40 HP 4-clyinder motor or a 60 HP 6-cylinder motor. Alco cars were considered as having high quality for the time. The vehicles also came with a high price as it took 19 months to build and complete each car. In 1913, Alco abandoned the production of automobiles but continued with the manufacturing of steam powered train locomotives.
