1930 Cord L-29 Cabriolet.
Made in Auburn Indiana.
Built from 1929 to 1931. the Cord L-29 came in four body styles, sedan, brougham, phaeton, and cabriolet. This model is a cabriolet. During that period of time, about 4400 of L-29's were produced.
The car was powered by a 298 cubic inch Lycoming straight 8-cylinder motor capable of 125HP. It borrowed drive train system technology that was originally used in Miller racing cars. The L-29 was first mass produced American car to feature front wheel drive car which allowed the body to be mounted much lower onto the frame when compared with other cars of the period.
The stock market crash signaled the beginning of the end for many upper end American car companies such as Cord.
This car now has its third owner who purchased the car after it was kept in storage for 60 years. The car was restored to its original condition to include the black paint and copper trim. In 2016, the car took first place in the 'Auburn/Duesenberg/Cord' category at the Concours d'Elegance in Pebble Beach.
