The Renault 6CV was the company’s first attempt at an entry-level mass-produced automobile. Over 150000 of these cars were produced from 1924 through 1929.
The rear-wheel drive car had a 3-speed manual transmission and was powered by a 951cc 4-cilinder motor which produced 17HP and a top speed of 37 MPH. The radiator was placed behind the motor which allowed for a good source of heat during the winter. Due to the placement of the radiator, the car had no grill and featured the ‘shovel nose’ front end that was common with Renault cars of the period. The car was small and compact with a curb weight of only 1874 lbs. It had no bumpers, one door, a folding canvas roof, and 4-wheel drum brakes. The car was known for its durability and reliability.
This car was Lars Anderson’s daily driver. The car’s nickname ws “polliwog’.
