The Fiat Tipo 50/60 was the quintessential super car of its time. The car was powered by an 11L, 6-cylinder motor capable of 65HP. It was one of the most powerful performance cars available at the time. Fiat produced 116 of these cars. This Tipo 50/60 is the only known survivor.
Fiat (Fabbirica Italiana Autmobili Torino) began producing cars in 1899. Prior to WWI, Fiat was known for producing very expensive high-end automobiles. Fiats were considered as the standard for quality for Italian cars.
The Tipo 50/60 is a very large vehicle. The wheelbase is 139-inches and the 674 cubic inch motor is 54 inches in length.
This Fiat was bought by the Lars and Isabel Anderson while they were on vacation in Europe. The car was shipped to New York as a rolling chassis and then turned over to a coach building company in New Jersey to construct the body for the car. This car was a favourite of Lars and he used it for over a decade. He modernized the Tipo in the early teens and had it repainted.
The car’s Nickname was ‘The Conqueror’.
