1980 Ford Escort MK2 RS1800 (replica).
The Ford Escort Mk2 was a production car with a rich history in rally racing. They were some of the most popular and successful rally cars ever built.
Mk2 RS1800’s won every championship in the UK’s RAC Rally from 1975 through 1979 and won the World Rally Championship for Manufacturer’s in 1979. Mk2 RS2000 are still popular today at vintage rally races.
Hannu Mikkola drove the original Eaton Yale Mk2 RS2000 to win multiple rallies in 1978 and 1979 including the UK’s RAC Rally Competition in 1979.
This car is a replica built to match the original car. It was given the seal of approval by Hannu Mikkola when he drove the car at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2009 and the Lake Superior Performance rally at their 30th anniversary.
I like the small puddle of oil by the right, front wheel.
