Andy Granatelli hired Art Pollard to drive this 1972 Lola T272 in the Indianapolis 500. Andy's son, Vince, was to serve as crew chief. Unfortunately, Pollard broke ihs leg in a practice accident and had to miss the race. Wally Dallenbach was hired as a substitute and finished in 15th.
The car was then used for the STP Pit Stop promotion tour. Across the country, race cars would be displayed out in front of auto part stores stores during the weekend to promote STP products. When the promotional tours were over, the car remained with Vince Granatelli before going on permanent display at the World of Speed.
