This 1997 Freightliner Columbia is the world's fastest truck. In August of 2006, the it hit a speed of 228.804 MPH at the Bonneville Salt Flats. The truck is powered by a 1472 cubic inch, quad turbocharged, 16 cylinder diesel motor supplied by Detroit Diesel Raman. The motor is capable of around 4500HP. The power is set to the wheels via a 5-speed Allison transmission. The truck weights 20000lbs. The tires are made by Michelin. The front tires are primarily used on F-15 Eagles and the rear tires on Boeing 737's.
