This car began life as a Cooper Formula 3 land speed racer and was powered by a Norton motorcycle engine. Pete Lovely, a Volkswagen/Porsche dealer and weekend racer, bought the car and installed a 1500cc motor from a Porsche 356 Super 1500. The Porsche Cooper easily beat the heavier Porsche Spyders. Racing this car, Lovely went on to five class wins and won the SCCA F Modified National Championship in 1955.
