1969 Ford Mustang Boss 302.
Bunkie Knudson Ford Motor Company president, Bunkie Knudson, had worked with Larry Shinoda when they were at GM. Knudson lured Shinoda over from GM to work on a secret project. That secret project was the Boss 302 Mustang. When anyone would ask him about his secret project, he would reply that he was working on ‘the boss’s car’.
The Boss 302 was designed to meet vehicle eligibility rules for the SCCA Trans AM Series. Homologation rules in place stated that a certain number of the cars had to be available for public purchase. Parnelli Jones won the Trans Am Series in a Boss 302 Mustang in 1970.
Boss 302 Mustang came with a 302 cubic inch (5.0L) V-8 motor which was hooked up to a 4-speed manual transmission. The car could go from zero to 60 MPH in 6.9 seconds and could cover the quarter mile in 14.6 sec at speed of 98 MPH. The top speed of the car was 118 MPH.
